So the challenges start (10900K, MSI Ace Z490 and 3080)

I don't like the MSI 'OC' function, it sends voltages rocketing. For info I use following 'All Core' settings for 10850 on MSI Unify: (Ring 4600)
5.0ghz - 1.260v
5.1 - 1.310v
5.2 - 1.360v

Thanks guys, appreciate your insights.

On another note does it sound right that Cinebench when running multicore reaching 93C?

That is crazy hot.

I'm personally using the team group 8 pack 2x16gb

I sold my 2x8gb vipers.

performance is better as dual rank and copy speed is much improved and a little write i believe.

▷ Team Group 8Pack Edition 32GB (2x16GB) DDR4 P… | OcUK (overclockers.co.uk)

temped to buy another pair or maybe look for... apparently the 'best'!

G.Skill Ripjaws V F4-4266C17D-32GVKB memory module 32 GB 2 x 16 GB DDR4 4266 MHz, RAM(black, 32 GB, 2 x 16 GB, DDR4, 4266 MHz)

around £270/280

I have just picked up another 10900k SP63 so not expecting much..

does 5.2ghz at 1.350volts (all core locked)
4900 cache so far
load level 7 (asus apex board) so 1.323v under load 'vdroop')
4400mhz ram

and seems to pass 10mins of r23 test ok

yes 4400 is easy!
1.480 volts fine

Got it, thanks bud.

I stupidly assumed my motherboard was applying the correct core V automatically.

So I decided to throttle it back from 1.35 to 1.3.

Im shocked that I can run Cinebench at 5.1GHz @ 1.3V! And cooler temperatures (circa 85C now).

If this CPU has so much headroom on voltage, can I adjust anything else?

Back in the day I remember adjusting FSB and all that stuff, I guess thats no longer around or somehow controlled automatically?

Also there is a base clock frequency of 100MHz, if I changed this to 133mhz it doesnt seem to make any difference....

Or alternatively. How much lower can I go down in vcore do you think?

Folks in HWINFO its reporting my memory as 1800 Clock PC16500 /2600

Surely that doesnt look right?

(My memory is 3200 and using XMP profile).

Ok incredible. Running at 1.25V and Cinebench still runs.
temperatures even lower, around 79C....

Ok I really don't get this :D

Is there anything else I can tinker with to take advantage of the lower voltage?
Presumably to test for undervolting, I just watch/log the frequency, if the cores are reporting 5.1GHz throughout then I should be good right?

Do I need to show your memory scores in adia64?

4400 is a great performance jump

did you order them before price went sky high back to £240/260?

Hey bud, no I didnt get it honestly, didnt have time.

Just wondering how much real world performance does 4400 add compared to 3600... its probably just a few fps?

Cheers MartinP.

I would like to say thanks to everyone for your sound advice and info you have provided.
It really helped me to put this rig together and I think Ive got the balance/sweet spot in terms of performance/stability just right.

Its amazing what kind of performance I am getting out of this compared to the trusty 4770k I was previously using.

CoD:BOCW proof in case. I remember the first scene of the game where you are sat down with adler et al at the bar.
I would get around 50-60fps in this scene with the 4770.
With the 10900/Z490 chipset.... im near enough hitting the frame limiter.

Really happy with this purchase despite the advice from some to go with AMD.
I will be gaming on this rig so I will not see any defecit in performance.

Again my thanks to the OCUK community for your support. The spirt of this forum is the same as when I first joined it back in 2004.
