Let's throw a spanner into the works. Unless you're gaming at 1600p, how about the 4990 that OCUK are flogging at £400 + a penny change!?

From certain people under a NDA which post on this forum, the 290 does overclock past 290x stock speeds and reach the same max core speed, so difference in shaders is where the performance difference is (which is not all that much, though i cant say no to the flagship card for that price!).
