So what IS the difference between Diet Coke and Coke Zero?

From what I understand, coke zero is designed to taste like normal coke but have no sugar. I've tried it and I agree with that, the taste is very similar to normal sugary coca cola.

I don't like either normal coke or coke zero, they both taste far too sweet for me. I much prefer diet coke.

Given the choice though, I prefer diet pepsi and pepsi max over any of the coke products. Max all the time, babeh!

Full fat coke is ridiculously sweet though, I cant see how anyone can drink it. Out of them all i prefer diet coke's taste anyway. Drink about 4 litres a week between 2 of us.

The originial Diet Coke is sweetened with Aspartame (nutrasweet). Coke Zero is sweetened with a blend of aspartame and acesulfame potassium. Coca-Cola's position is that the Coke Zero is supposed to taste more like the original Coke, but without calories or sugar.

I thought pretty much all foods and drinks using aspartame used acesulfame K as well?

Personally I am somebody who does give a damn about calorie and sugar content in my drinks.
I'm not some health freak nor am I somebody who is morbidly obese.
However I'm losing a few pounds and cannot see the point of taking in extra when I don't need to.

I like a "can of fizzy" as much as the next person.
However all of the various diet varieties taste nothing like their full fat cousins.
The sweeteners used give nothing but a totally different taste and a horrible afetr taste.
With the Zero line they have attempted to keep as close to the original taste as possible however also reduced sugar and calories so that the drink could be considered "not too bad for you".
I love Coke Zero and I'm also a fan of Sprite Zero.
I know that I can drink these really as much as I like and it isn't like I'm throwing buckets of sugar down my throat and the taste really isn't far from the full fat version at all.

I used to drink normal coke all the time, untill i wanted to cut down on the suger and went for diet coke, which wasnt nice at first but now im used to it. I tried normal coke again a few weeks ago and i thought it was disgusting, either they changed the taste since i last tried it (unlikely) or ive just become so used to diet coke now that i think anything else tastes rubish.

I would still drink normal coke if i ran out of diet again, but i wouldnt enjoy it as much.
