I noticed that my screen was slightly brighter than usual going by the "barely visable" brightnes settings on the options on source games, I had my 7950gx2 overclocked slightly. When I returned to windows I opened ati tool and reseted back to the stock speeds and the screen went a lot darker (back to normal) the second I changed the speeds.

Is this normal? whats the reason for this, Im not massiveily worried as its not a huge change in brigthness but certainly noticable.

any ideas?

cheers

I don't see how changing card clocks can alter brightness at all.

I'd be looking for other things that could be causing this.

I know its weird but as soon as I loaded default speeds for my card the screen just changed. Its no big deal i just wanted to know if overclcoking does this, Ive been doing this for years and first time Ive noticed.

Have to admit its the first time I've heard of an overclock changing screen brightness, I suppose theoretically if your card has bad voltage control it could be increasing the output voltage slightly when you overclock it, and thus your screen is percieving a brighter picture, but not sure.
