So When is the Game Finished?

I've been playing Fable 2 for the last couple of weeks and finally got to what I would consider to be the "end", as the credits rolled through like in a movie.

However, my gamerscore shows that I've only achieved 610 points.

I can see that to some people it's a case of achieving all the gamer score points, but I'm not sat wondering if there's anything else in the story worth going to look at / do, or if it's just a matter of kicking a chicken far enough / getting enough tattoos etc.

How do you lot look at this ?

Reminds me of Fallout 3 where to get all trophies you have to reach levels 8, 14 and 20 with different Karma levels - impossible in 1 playthrough (though achievable in 1 and a bit playthroughs with careful game saves).

I think some trophies & achievements are ways of trying to get you to spend more time on the game, for different reasons:

- keeps you from putting the game into the 2nd hand market earlier (where developers don't necessarily see a benefit, except possibly from providing dlc, but we do)

- gets you to explore playing the game in different ways, gives you a chance to enjoy it on a different level (Mirror's Edge - complete the game without shooting anybody, for example)

I'm not a fan of doing boring & repetitive tasks in my games but I do enjoy the meta-game of getting trophies across multiple games (essentially completing a series of tick lists) where the trophies (& achievements) are actually fun :) Not getting 1000/1000 achievements or 100% trophies does not mean I have not completed the game, though I do have 100% in Fallout 3 but have probably only explored half the map (discuss :)).

When I can't be bothered to play it any more :)

I can't say that I'm an achievement chaser, though I will try to get the ones that I'm capable of getting, the long term (especially in MP terms e.g. get 1000 kills with × weapon sort of thing) ones I don't tend to bother with.

Generally I will try and get to the end credits of SP

cheers for the input guys... I think I'm in a similar camp... as far as the vanilla game, I'm finished.

I think I'll come back and try the DLC at a later date, but for now, I'll put it to one side.... right Lara, where you at? ;)

I hate the games which force you to play again just to get a certain achievement which you couldnt get on your first play through. Such a stress!

When it is no longer entertaining.

I've lost count of the amount of games I've only played halfway through, then never touched them again because they dont entertain me anymore.

HL2 being the exception, I forced myself to keep playing just to find the "good" bits all the reviews were talking about, they never came.

When I get bored or when I see the end credits.

Whichever comes first.

Depends completely on the game. Most games I just play through the story but some games, most notably GTA titles and Uncharted, I didn't feel I had completed it until I got 100%.

I'll generally play single player games until I'm bored of them, irrespective of whether I've finished it or not. If I really enjoy a game I've got no problems going through it several times, Dead Rising being a perfect example of a fun game I can play a lot.

I guess that's the way it should be, and although I'm not bored of Fable as such, I think that ending the major storyline and therefore being left with mini plots like bashing the slavers gets a little tiring, so that's almost it for me :)
