So who else is waiting before they play Crysis?

you must be great at making friends
The ever-present closet geeks voice shines through with his lukewam IQ and interest in pursuing all those who oppose.

Somehow I don't think making friends is relevant here.

the game runs rubbish on almost all current cards end of story, good luck getting high framerates with that res on the new cards btw.
The game runs rubbish, care to elaborate on that, or do you mean the game is rubbish?

I played it with a 8800 320 and it was ok. I am playing it again with a 8800gtx and better (this time avoiding vehicles, so on foot most of the time). I am pretty sure I will play it for 3rd time with a mod (a few around already). Have to say Far cry was far better :-(

Agreed, far cry is much better in my opinion. And COD4.

I agree this game isn't that great, I fear that even with the new cards we'll just see that the game is badly coded.

I enjoyed the driving bits and the scenery was nice but agree that gameplay was repetitive and lacking. COD4 was a much better game albeit too short.

I played Crysis thru on my 2900pro/3870 and absolutely loved it! The Core level was pretty boring to be fair but itself was pretty creepy! If you can last the 45mins or so of that level then great because after that the game gets good again! I will be looking forward to playing the game more smoothly on the new hardware tho :)

I'm playing it now at 1920 x 1200 and can appreciate people being irritated it doesn't play well on their systems but disagree that it's not worth playing. IMO the early part of the game is ace, you can take whatever approach you like and the nanosuit is a fun novelty. Have just got to the alien cave thing and that is pants though. Far cry also went down hill at the trigen stage for me.

Guess I'm one of the few who enjoyed the game then :p

Prehaps I missed out on the hype, and yes it is flawed, but on the whole, I didn't feel it was horrific as some would make out.

I think it was hyped for so long and the released screenshots / vids / youtube footage etc got everyone geraed up for a real step up in terms of GFX and gameplay and a lot feel it failed to deliver anything new. Agreed the Graphics are good, but great eyecandy and shoddy overall game IMO

I agree, games suck unless they can be played at decent settings and frame rates.

I remember Doom 3 ran like a snail on sand on my original FX5950 so never bothered to play it. As soon as I got my 8800GTX, I reinstalled and played it the way its meant to be played lol.

Same goes for other older titles that didn't run so well at the time, such as HL2 etc.

Bring on the next gen.

Peace.

Crysis is great, dont listen to the kiddies. It really will be a good experience @ 1920x1200 on very high settings.

I'm sure way more people would like it if there PC's could run it well on high settings.

I'm waiting to play this game also.

I wouldn't say I was putting it off specifically because of the graphical requirements, but I have a lot of games I want to try (and not much time to play them), so this one has been bumped down the list until the next generation of video cards.

Im waiting for my every 3 years pc update. PC is currently 2 and bit old so not long now.
After i get my update done i will then buy Crysis and play it.

Was it though? I don't recall Crysis being hyped nearly as much as the other major shooters from last year such as Bioshock and Halo 3. Bioshock and Halo 3 had TV ads, Crysis didn't. Halo 3 even had ads splashed all over busses in my town.

Plus, the graphics are not just "good", they are great. I'd love for some Crysis haters to name a shooter, or any game for that matter with better visuals. Seriously, come on. Calling Crysis just "good" in the visual area is just ignorant. It's the best looking game available, period. If you think it looks bad, you must be playing it on all low.

As for gameplay, yes, it's repetetive and tedious in places, but it's still leagues ahead of every other shooter in terms of gameplay. The AI is also better than people give it credit for, it's not without flaws, but at least enemies aren't omnipotent like every other shooter out there. CoD4 a better shooter? Oh please, if you like endless respawning armies of unintelligent arab soldiers, then yes, it's better. Don't get me wrong, CoD4 is a fantastic game, but its the most on rails game I've ever played and the gameplay is genuinely frustrating at times.

You can play Crysis in two ways, taking full advantage of the power house that is the nanosuit, sneaking around in the undergrowth and leaping 20 ft into the air and pummeling and unsuspecting Korean squad and trying to have fun. Or alternatively, you can just play it from start to finish without any imagination and without attempting anything fun or cool, purposely playing the game on rails. Crysis is a game that invites you to take advantage of the environment, physics and suit powers. If you don't take full advantage of that then it's your loss.

If you haven't guessed it already, Crysis is one of my favourite shooters. It's a great experience both visually and gameplay wise if you are a fan of shooters - I really don't understand the negativity towards it and don't think I ever will. I'd recommend it to any first person shooter fan.

I'm not attacking anyone with this post by the way, but I just thought I'd post something from a more praising angle about this game since so many people around here seem to hate it. :/

Great post to be honest. I have completed crysis and I was dissapointed mainly because I was just trudging through it on rails as you say and the core level was just a complete disaster for me really put me off the game. But after reading your comments I think im going to revisit it and explore it a little more. After all it is a sandbox game and sanbox's are for playing in right?

Cheers,
Hugest

Crysis was hyped up because it was the first DirectX 10 game. I don't remember anything about the gameplay being hyped up!

The best looking game.. that would probably be Gears of War. I haven't played Crysis yet.
