So who is actually gaming at 4k and if so what gpus are you using?

I'm thinking about getting a 4k monitor in the new year, probably one with Freesync to go with my 295x2 but I'd like to here what peoples real world gaming experiences are like at 4k. I've seen plenty of benchmarks and read plenty of arm chair opinions but reports from real world experience seem to vary massively. There seems to be one group of opinion that anything less than quadfire 8gb 290x's is rubbish for 4k as if you can't run everything on ultra without dropping below 60fps for a single frame then it's not worth it and then other views that people are playing fine with a single 970 and enjoying it.
Now I know the truth is probably somewhere in the middle and there is a lot of personal opinion involved and it depends a lot what type of games you play but for those of you who regularly game at 4k how do you find it?
I don't really play many fps games, mainly MMOs, RPGs and strategy so I'm thinking I can probably live with having to drop a few settings as a compromise for the extra screen space.

Single 970 for those types of games shouldn't run into too many difficulties if you're willing to dial settings down a few notches. I'm not part of the max every setting crowd, btw :p

Well I recently built a cinema system, so my 4k rig that I designed and built ages ago will finally be used properly.

Sadly my 4k TV is busted and the one 4k HDMI port is dead. Going to get them out in the new year.

I have Titan Black SLI. I wanted the VRAM so I paid the price. Mind you, when 4gb isn't enough any more (soon IMO) they will pay for the replacements I'd have to have bought.

I use a 295x2 @ 4k and not had any issues. I still have my old 290x's so can add one if needs be but so far its been fine. Would be nice to have more vram though!

Dual 970 here. Tempted by a third but will likely wait until the 'real' next ten cards are out.

Can't help but think another 970 will be a bit of a waste. Maybe not so much if it had 8gb...

I gamed at 4K with a pair of Titans and they coped very well. It was only the lure of G-Sync that pulled me away. You will enjoy it but don't expect to be running games like AC Unity on full details with that 295x2. Turn down the AA and you will be fine. I have read that people say "you don't need AA at 4K" but that isn't true at all and with AA off, you can see the jaggies still (which surprised me) but the overall experience is far superior to me than 1080P.

Yeah I'm looking forward to finding out just how 4k is without MSAA.

Thing is I will be sitting nearly 20ft back from the screen any way, so I highly doubt I will need it from that distance.

HD @ 1080p is absolutely lovely tbh. I did plug the rig into a regular HDMI port and Fallout 3 looked great.

It's a weird one, because when you plug in 1080p the TV states it's a Toshiba screen. Then when you plug in 4k (the system does recognise it but no display sadly) it says it's some prototype haha.

I've spoken to the company who make it and they're coming out in the new year (my decision, didn't want to end up TV-less over Xmas) to replace the HDMI board.

Im surprised, there must be a point where the DPI is so high jaggies aren't evident.

Ah that is a shame. Hopefully they get it sorted for you ASAP so you can enjoy that big screen and your monster rig! :D

They're very good tbh. On site techs, the lot. I was sceptical at first but after reading lots of reviews I found they were a decent company.

Just a shame they're wool pulling, because it was only after I bought it that I found the small print and saw that HDMI1 is actually 30hz.

Mind you, looking around at benchmarks you're lucky to break 30 FPS min.....

Good support goes along way, particularly when you are purchasing a premium product.

This is probably a dumb question but do the Titan blacks support HDMI 2.0 anyway?
