So, who's pre-ordered the Rift?

had a load of fun with my order and managed to order 2... after a few support calls they cancelled the later one and I should have it in april some time.. Wishing they would update the release schedule so I can book some time off in advance :)

Ordered early with an advertised date being March but don't know if that's going to happen cause folks were saying some slipped to April...

If when you stared the process it said March, then you should get March. The estimated dates were done on when you initiated the order, not when it completed.

Mine said March, but ended up having continuous errors, so kept reloading the page. Eventually it went to April, and then I was able to complete it, so hopefully mine is early April, or even better yet, slipped back to March due to the cancelations.

I think I have a March preorder, but now seriously considering dropping the rift for the Vive... Thought I would stick with the Rift but the more of what I'm seeing with the Pre versions out in the wild already makes me think this really is the way to go. Shame that the Touch controllers aren't ready yet...

There are bound to be a few cancellations due to people switching to the Vive or having second thoughts.

There are even greater numbers of cancellations being performed by Oculus at the moment, with a lot of people being unhappy about it. Many of them were using freight forwarding services to countries not supported at launch, or different addresses on credit card compared to delivery address. Caused a bit of a stink, but my orders still in, so I'm okay with that for the moment.

Cancelling orders to countries not supported by Oculus I can understand, but from what I hear others who have changed things like shipping/billing details etc. who were then cancelled can raise a job ticket and be reinstated to their original position no problem.

I think that Oculus have been inundated with scalper orders too, so they are doing in their best to only allow legitimate orders. Unfortunately for some, it may mean legitimate orders are cancelled, but hopefully they are few and far between.

Have my Rift pre-ordered also but was only given a Q2 timeline, soooo excited, didn't get DK2 but surely they'll have ironed out all the niggly problems by CV1?
Cost for me to Ireland to the door is 742 euros or 585 GBP at todays rates.

On another note did anyone see the "VR Ready" Pcs a large online retailer is selling but they all only contain the GTX970, oh that's another debate isn't it.

I'm gonna go for the 980Ti as I'd say most guys on here will do?

Probably not a bad idea. Their already likely working on the next versions ready for a Christmas launch.

Doubtful they are working on one for a release in that time frame. They've already said the time frame is somewhere between that of a mobile phone and a console for a release cycle.

You guys reckon VR will go anywhere? I keep thinking it'll die off within a few years, similar to 3D on TVs.

I think this has a lot more potential than 3D TV's ever had. 3DTV was never that great or really that immersive, VR has that capability. With the Gear VR being bundled with the S7, it'll allow mass adoption of some basic level VR. PS4 will allow gaming VR to be released to the masses, and the Rift and Vive will allow the specialist market to have a play with some of the best technology.
