So you need to return your graphics card under warranty....?

+1

what if components burnt on their PCB due to their manufacturing or handling failures?

i can understand them refusing if you've modified the board, but some of those burns could be their mistakes.

We're not talking exploding capictors, we're talking itty bitty chips that go boom.

Theres no way the psu should be supplying enough volts to let those chips explode. Most likely lightning or dodgy psu. Im not saying its impossible.
I doubt they just glance at the card, glance at the page and find a quick and easy way to rule you out of your warranty... they probably rule out their own voltage regulators first, and once they know it wasn't their fault, they then think about not giving warranty.

Besides... Gainward are the guys that "mod" their Pci-Ex card to AGP ala 7950gt AGP, give em some credit.

I design these things for a living, I know what I'm talking about. My point was that after reading that article, I have less confidence in Gainward honouring a warranty claim and therefore they are now on my blacklist.

Hmm, not good, some of the examples can understand like ones classed as tampering where most companys would void the warranty. But the rest are just plain nit picky. Love the dust build up one, although they are correct there also imo. However; 'Removing serialnumber sticker', well they often fall off over time. 'When components are burnt thanks to faulty powersupplies', that ones a bit off aswel imo.

How are BFG for their warranty, any special requirements?

Sapphire for example require a 25 pound handling return fee if you want to use their 3 year warranty

My last two cards have been gainwards 6800 and 8800, and they've been great had no problems. Although after seeing that list I might have to consider getting another.

most of those seem fair to me, and hoving your compter every now and then is a must, you wouldnt let your cpu heatsink totally block up too and if you say you card stopped working because your psu blew up your asking for trouble.

i wonder if' if you had just baught one and you was walking home if you placed the box on the floor to get somthing out of your bag and a gainward worker trod on the box if the warrenty would still count? :P

My father in law decided to hoover the insides on his old PC, going back many years ago. He did such a grand job as it was totally clean and void of all dust and gubbins that had littered the insides for years. He felt quite proud of himself, but not for long though.
Unfortunately it was also free of most of the jumpers and a few capacitors from the motherboard that got sucked up in his enthusiasm to do a thorough job. It was clean, but totally dead.
