Since retailers have finally started accepting SB orders I thought it might be cool to share what you bought. I'm going to suggest leaving prices and obviously WHERE you got it all (if it wasn't OCUK) out of the thread as there is a lot of competition at the moment.

So, I ordered myself

CPU: 2500k
Motherboard: Asus P8P67 Pro
Memory: OCZ Gold 2x2GB DDR3 PC3-10666
Cooler: Prolimatech Megahalems Rev B
Fans: 2x AKASA Viper 120mm

I went for the 2500k because I don't honestly need HT. The P8P67 Pro I picked up because its got a few more bells and whistles than the stock board, but I didn't want to pay the price for the Deluxe for things I deemed unnecessary.

Share away!

Mods: apologies if this is in the wrong place, possibly CPU section was correct but I thought since its a general kit list General was better.

I ordered from ocUK the ASUS P8P67 and i5-2500k so my build looks like this;

Intel i5-2500k 3.3ghz CPU
ASUS P8P67 Motherboard
Crucial 2x 4GB (8GB) DDR3 1333 RAM
MSI Radeon 1GB Twin Frozr 5850 Graphics
Western Digital 1TB Green SATA Hard Drive
Coolermaster Gladiator 600 Case
Antec Basiq 550W PSU

Are prices higher due to selling early? Will they drop in a few days?

tbh I do not think the prices at that bad... the price for the i5-2500k and P8P67 are only £ 26 more expensive together then the cheapest I have seen...(some possibly dodgy unknown outfits who might charge me fortune to deliver to Channel Islands) the P8P67 is actually cheaper then at another supplier who had my pre-order (which has been cancelled).

I think if they do drop then the CPU will not go down to much less then £ 150 ex VAT and the Motherboard not less then £ 102 ex VAT meaning at most £ 15 more then the (possibly) reduced prices and you run the risk of this not happening and also missing stock. Also you run the risk of paying more VAT if you do not order before the 10th.

I personally do not know of anywhere else I could order both these items for less.

i always knew they wouldnt be as cheap as people were making them out to be....there was no way they would come out at the same price as the 1156 chips.

defaintly i5 for me.

I could have got a decent i5 760 P55 outfit for £ 185 ex VAT inc Delivery but I figure i5-2500k P67 outfit is worth at least £ 50 more to anyone which means if I was being sensible I would pay no more then £ 235 ex VAT for a P67 board and i2500k... I am paying £ 280.04 ex VAT inc Delivery so about £ 45 too much then I would like but I could have gone for a cheaper ASRock board which would have offset this a bit.

£ 45 is not a huge tax on being an early adopter.

They are exactly the price i expected them to be and the prices i paid matched early projections.

EDIT: The site I ordered from has pulled all LGA 1155 products. Still honouring anyone who got an order in though. Hurrah!

so its looking like people are paying £280 ish for an i5 2500k + mobo...

I do video editing and 3d and was tempted by an i7 950, but im thinking am I5 2500k would probably overclock nice enough for me not to miss the i7 950.

The 2600k i think is a bit too expensive for me.

No that is £ 280 ex VAT inc Delivery for P8P67 and i5 2500k... for me in the Channel Islands (sorry but I always think in ex VAT terms) you would have to pay 17.5% VAT (at the moment with NOVATRISE code) on top of that but you might be able to get Free Delivery (my price includes delivery at £ 13.90)

I still think its worth it because if you have to pay VAT then you have to pay VAT there is no way around that ever (unless you move to the Channel Islands which is not really an option)

Hey guys,

I've ordered:

i7 2600k
Asus P8P67 Deluxe

Aside from this I'm also giving my first build a go! So I've got some other new bits lined up:

NZXT Phantom in White
Corsair HX 750W ATX
Corsair Vengeance 8GB 1866Mhz RAM
Asus Xonar DG

And moving over from my old Pc I have:

OCZ Vertex 120 GB SSD
Corsair H50 Water cooler
Then just other bits like graphics cards, DVD drives and hard drives to move over.

On a side note I'm glad this is the end of spending! haha

don't know how long we can see SB drops to the current i5/7 price level

It could take until the end of the year or longer depending on when 1155 gets near to being replaced...

I weighed up my options vs i5 760 and I reckon its about £ 85 more expensive for i5 2500k and P67 motherboard.

Thats an i5 2500k with P8P67 vs i5 760 with P7P55

I would say an P67 setup is worth at least £ 50 more right now because the CPU starts at 3.3 vs 2.8 and may give you a much higher overclock + all the advantages of the P67 chipset and new motherboard enhancements.

So really you are only overpaying by about £ 35 for being an early adopter... I do not care if the i5-2500k and P67 prices are the same as i5 760 are now in a years time...

In a years time I may want to upgrade to something else.
