Hi am confused with all these mobos around you have H81/Z87/B85 and other chipsets for 1150 socket mobos.

I don't overclock but plan on getting a 4770k, and also don't ever bother with crossfire or sli, can I just pick up one of these socket 1150 mobos for 40-50 quid or should I spend the extra on a Z87 chipset mobo for 63 quid ?

Iif you are planning to buy a 4770k, z87 motherboard would be best.
Look at Gigabyte motherboards.
Z87x-ud4h comes with free cpu watercooler, good choice for the cpu.
Or if you prefer cheaper, then z87-d3hp, however aftermarket heatsink can cost you around 30£, so I'd get ud4h for that free one.

Probably worth the extra tenner for the following:

Can always clock later
Has much higher resale value
Longer lifespan for high end gaming if you do eventually overclock

thanks yeah was a little extra just in case I do want to oc

think ill stick with z87 also that gigabyte board is just built very well in design.. like the dual fan option headers etc

D3HP is great, but the G1 Sniper is £2 more for SLI support/better audio and a bigfoot killer lan

Thx Yeah just spotted that board.... this is one seriously well designed board and the audio and lan and setup of ports is well placed and looking a notch above most boards, can't be beat for 99.99 either price tag.

Aye she's well featured for the price.

You can get a £70 Z87 board and pay an extra tenner for the CPU as Avenged here said, definitely worth it, overclocking can be as simple as hitting one button.

I know, I overclock but if someone says they aren't going to then I'm not going to try convincing them otherwise. I trust they've looked into it and have their reasons :)

I hate to do this again but look around and avoid the G1 sniper Z87 as it seems to have problems at present.

Is that why its 99 quid ?

I have heard a few issues here and there but do you know if the sniper issues are more in relation to overclocking?

Or is it just buggy and crashing....

I have put it on hold on buying it for now...

I prefer no overclocking just simple and working + I use really low rpm fans for silence which is critical, but yeah for the sake of 10-30 quid I might as well just get a decent mobo which has overclocking I may want to dabble with it later on...

I think a 4770k+mobo will last a good few years again for me with just the gpu upgrades time to time :)

Get the Sniper, many people happy with theirs, its only the same people repeating there dissatisfaction that appears to be a lot. Besides you tend not to see people posting saying how great their new purchase is.
