I've got a shiny new 12700F arriving in the next few days (early birthday present from the missus) but I need a motherboard to go with it.

It has to be DDR4 and preferably a full sized ATX.

Budget £150 - £200 ish

Any recommendations?

Thank you.

This has been a stellar board, totally rock solid with a 12700K @ 5.1/4.

Thoroughly recommended and dagnabbit, £20 cheaper than when I bought it last December!

I have an EVGA DG-87 case which has an enclosed I/O section so the Wi-Fi antenna may not actually fit within the limited space.

Is there much of a difference between the B660 & Z690? I have no problem spending the extra if the Z690 is better.

Thanks all.

I can see why it's so highly regarded. Thank you.

Is that just for the B660 or does the Z690 version compare favourably too?

no idea on the z690 parts tbh.
personally the latest gen cpus (both from intel and amd) are all clocked to within an inch of their life that it really makes not much difference getting a multiplier-locked vs an unlocked part unless you want to spend hours tinkering (or just want to tinker in general)
won't be seeing 50%+ gains like back in the 2500k days
or maybe it's just that i'm getting older and want items to...just work lol

Actually the only reason I'm considering the Z690 is the extra M.2 slots and the extra USB ports and maybe wifi if the antennas fit.

You never know. It's just a consideration, more is always better incase I want to add more down the road.

But it's more the extra USB ports - everything is USB now, I bought a small desk fan yesterday that's USB only, my toothbrush is USB charge only e.t.c

But it's more the extra USB ports
from my rudimentry googling it looks like an extra 2 rear usb ports
most cases will have 2-4 front ports unless you need more than that ofc

(i use an itx case with 4 rear and 2 front ports...can't say i've ever used more than 3 ports at a time lol, but everyone's needs are different)

I'm currently using 8 lol but the B660 does seem to have enough - 12 I believe wheras the Z690 if I'm reading it correctly has 17?

May I ask is there actually any benefit to having wifi on a motherboard if the PC is permanently plugged into a router and will never move position?

Thanks.

may be better for resale, but also more expensive to buy in the first place, so no benefit at all lol

As I thought :)

I think I'm leaning towards the Pro Z690-A DDR4 just for the extra slots & ports, like I said better to have them than not and the extra few quid is worth it in my opinion.

Thank you all for your amazing help.
