socket 478 mobo, with sata and ddr2?

hi all, does anyone know if 478 socket boards support ddr2? if so could someone recommend one?

many thanks

Yes, several S478 boards supported DDR2, but you'd most likely only get a really good one second hand now. If you've not already done so, get onto Member's Market wanted pages and ask for offers.

If you just want a board then typing "S478 motherboard DDR2" into froogle.co.uk will chuck up a couple of perfectly respectable boards. The Intel 945 chipset was about the best that S478 ever got to.

thanks very much :) i have posted in the wanted section of members market but no relys yet.

froogle brings up a quite a few thank you

I think there are actually only 2 boards - the ASRock and the Biostar, and of the two I'd buy the ASRock as it has an Intel 945 chipset whereas the other has a VIA chipset which isn't as fast or as feature rich.

ok thanks, i think there are 3 or four as the Asus Socket 478 P4M900 seems to support ddr2.

i have had bad experience with a via chipset on a sata controller card so i would rather go with the intel 4 sure :)
