[UPDATE] Socket 478 Motherboard - Help

Ok somehow i managed to get my computer to display something onscreen, everything looks normal but i cannot access my the BIOS menu for some reason. When i hit F2 on start up am left with a black screen which just sais "wait...", ok so i wait but nothing happens, i left it like this for about 15 minutes then rebooted, but its the same all over again.
Also, if i do not hit F2 and just let my computer run, it gives me the option to start windows normally, or boot in safe mode, but when i try either of these, it just reboots back to the beginning.

Any ideas? really starting to annoy me now!

----------------------------------------------------------------------

A few weeks back my PC decided not to work, i can't really say how this happened as it remains a complete mystery.
What happened was, i left my computer on the desktop screen and left it for a few hours, and when i came back to it all i could see was the Intel logo.

From this point, my PC did not respond to any keyboard or mouse clicks, so restarted it. And now every time i turn my PC on there is no display on the monitor, yet every component seems to be ticking over just fine.
From spare parts, i have replaced the PSU, CPU, GPU and even the motherboard battery, but nothing works.

The only thing I can think of to solve this problem, is replace the motherboard all together, which i might add has been running fine for the past four or so years!

So here is my system specs:

Intel D875PBZ
Northwood 3.0GHZ
2GB RAM (4x512) PC-3200
GeForce 6800GT (AGP)
Hitatchi Deskstar T7K250

Does anyone know if OcUK can get hold of these motherboards? B-Grade maybe? Can't find any on the website.

Thanks.

Intel boards come with a 3 year warranty if I'm not wrong, I had a similar problem with a D865 board and it was replaced under warranty at over a year old. Can you rma it?

You'll struggle to get an 875 based board, but ASRock do the 865PE based board and that should run near enough the same drivers.

I would definitely ask Intel if they can help though. If that fails then you are looking at the ASRock or the 'bay or Member's Market.

I think some of the Shuttles also ran i875 chipsets.

Thanks for the replies,

Yeah, i'll send an e-mail to Intel to see if they can do anything, but chances are they won't as its four years old.

@Justintime, i have replaced the video card once already, have yet to swap the memory over.

@WJA96, had a look at the ASROCK boards, the only issue with them is the lack of memory support as it only has two DIMMS.

Pick yourself up an Asus P4P800 E Deluxe mobo (865PE)...similiar performance to 875 mobos.....

See Here for specs....:)

I think you've been looking at the P4i865GV board (microATX) as the board I suggested is identical to the ASUS board jbloggs suggested, but a bit cheaper, and it definitely has 4 RAM slots.
