Hiya Everyone

Just a quick question. I've got a Socket A Motherboard (Running a Sempron 2600), Yes I know, ancient :p . Anywho, I thought it would be worth trying to overclock it, mainly due to an upgrade coming soon and might aswell start learning. Anywho, while in the BIOS the settings to change the FSB / Multiplier are faded out. Although I can see them I cant actually change them, after endless troubles trying to find a manual for my motherboard, me and a few friends came to the conclusion that we cant find it. Was just wondering if you knew how to solve this, maybe I should just change some jumpers on the motherboard and test my luck.

Thanks! :D

If you know who made the motherboard, you can probably find a copy of the manual on their website in .pdf format. Are you sure that the bios option to change the fsb isn't set to auto instead of manual? Check that first. Alternatively, if your PC was built by someone like Dell, I heard that they sometimes lock the bios to prevent people from messing up the settings!

i may well be wrong as this is totally generalised as i have no idea what mobo you have, but above the greyed out settings is there a setting saying AUTO? if you access it and change it to MANUAL you will probably ungrey all the options you desire. it might be called anything at all tbh

I'd say you've either got someting set to AUTO instead of MANUAL, or the motherboard just doesn't allow you to make the changes.

Have you got the latest bios for your mobo? Check the manufacturers website for the latest bios & check the version history to see if it might give you some more options.

Failing that, maybe it just has no o/c settings.
