See sodastream has reappeared, we used to have one when I was a kid but then it seemed to die off in the 90s.

Seen it in Sainsburys and I'm tempted to get one, mainly because theres a root beer syrup and it's damn hard to find root beer here!

Just curious if anyone has one the new units and what they think?

Oh and leave off about them being Zionists etc, couldn't care less.

I bought one this weekend for the missus' birthday present, she hasn't opened it yet, will do later on Monday.

And like you the Root Beer syrup is on my shopping list, although I believe Asda sell Carters Root Beer.

Used to have one. Not any more.

The cost of the machine, the gas and the syrups is really uneconomical in this day and age when you have the supermarkets trying to outdo each other with rollbacks and bogof's.

I'll +1 to this thread too. Got one myself last year - can't remember the exact price but Argos had it on deal with some samples included. When re-stocking flavours, go on Amazon for their 500ml bottles. For CO2 gas, drop back into Argos with your old bottle (recycle) and you can get a replacement for £10 instead of £20. Bring some ID though!!! I'm 35 and got ID'd for the gas lol :p

Flavour-wise: not too keen on lemonade/tonic water, but go for Dr Pete (like Dr Pepper), root beer, cream soda, orangade. My fave however is pink grapefruit!

Funnily enough, I grabbed three 500ml bottles of Jeremiah Weed root brew in Asda's the other day for a fiver.

Lovely stuff if you don't mind it being alcoholic.

Was gutted when McDonalds packed up root beer.

Anyway, Asda's do 6 packs of root beer (330ml cans) for £1.40.

Alcoholic Root Beer, jeez why hasn't someone thought of that before, I need some now.

The Jeremiah Weed brew tasted "odd" when we tried it before, but that Asda 6 pack sounds worth a punt for that price - cheers :)

Anyone old enough to remember the Fact or Myth (unsure if true) that if you mixed SodaStream or Coca‑Cola at that time with Aspirin you got high.

Both removed something from the drink to stop this.

It was Coke and Aspirin, never tried myself but was ment to work, and yes Coke was supposed to change the recipe.

LOL, I was a little young for the glue era, older cousins etc. were right age 3+ years older and then the gas era.

I never touched any of it but remember Grange Hill did an EP to touch on it and one of guys at school with my cousins was addicted to glue and had the scabs to show it.

Root beer... isn't that the stuff that tastes like you would expect of sparkling TCP? Or is that ginger beer...

Indeed, in fact my missus tells me Root Beer smells like Germolene. It's certainly and industrial kind of taste, it's probably a Marmite kind of taste.

Someone has moved this thread from General to La Cuisine, wasn't me gov, killed the thread I suppose.

Since when has Sodastream or Fizzy Drinks been considered a part of cuisine?
