Looking to buy a nice sofa for when I get my new house, and with the long waiting time I want to order anyday now. Went to DFS the other day and saw this one:

Very comfy indeed, and looks the part.

Looking to get the 3 seater manual recliner, and an electric recliner chair. Obviously it's a lot of money so is there anything I should be wary of before ordering? Never bought any sort of seat in my life apart from a sled.

anything I should be wary of before ordering?

Make sure they include the woman

IF you change your mind and want a corner sofa for example Nabru.co.uk is an awesome site that has a good selection. You can also build your own sofa which is pretty cool. I went to the show room to view the quality and it looked good. I have ordered mine from there will let you know how it turns out next week when i get it delivered!

Whats with the teapot on the floor in that picture? That's a recipe for disaster, especially with a cream carpet :p.

I had an L shaped leather sofa from DFS last year, again pretty expensive. It took at least 8 weeks to get.

The only thing that annoyed me about the whole experience is that when we bought it in the shop, the guy told us 8 weeks, and we asked if it was possible to get it any quicker as we wanted it in our new place. He said he would push for getting it earlier. It didn't come earlier and infact I can't remember now whether it was actually more than 8 weeks in the end. They were never able to give a date when I rang them.

Finally, I got quite an abrupt call one day to say that my sofa was being delivered Friday. To which I explained that I was working, could it possibly be delivered on Monday when I would be off work. She then told me that there schedule is so tight that customers can't choose when they can have it delivered.

I asked what would happen if I wasn't available, after paying more than a grand for a sofa and then having a date thrust upon me with no say in it, which she couldn't really give me an answer for.

I then said that I'd be ok with Friday, provided she could guarantee me being the first customer of the day, so it was in the morning then I could go into work afterwards. She said she couldn't promise it as they may come at anytime of the day, but phoned the depot to ask them to try and do so.

The fitters did come in the morning luckily, did a great job of getting it in my flat and setup quickly and its a fantastic looking sofa.

I just felt that it was pretty lame that after waiting weeks for it and it costing so much money that they don't even let you choose when to have it delivered.

When I bought a sofa from DFS the chap explained there delivery process as stated above so I couldn't complain with regards to that.

Also the store (Bristol) called me the day before to let me know a rough delivery time assuming the prior deliveries went to plan. Not a time slot as such but an indication, I thought this was good of them considering the company policy of deliver whenever they like!

a word of WARNING!

Having had similar bad service from CSL I would try and look for a more caring place after all they are just a loan company who have sofas in their shop window (Deferred Finance Scheme)

I bought a couple of sofas for my new place from DFS, and I can't rate them highly enough. I went around with the GF, had a look around, sat on a few sofas and found one we liked. We weren't bothered, other than a sales guy to introduce him self to us and just said "I'll leave you to it, come see me if you need anything", which is perfect.

Checked SCS too, but went back to DFS and bought 2 of these:

2 seater version, which is surprisingly big, easily sits two.

They are ridiculously comfy too. I personally wouldn't get a corner sofa, I think they're just too rigid with out they're setup. If you get a two and a three seater instead, you can move them about if needed, just gives a bit more freedom to move around if needed :)
