Ok a long while back I read a thread on here about DFS and thier bad customer service/prices etc. A member suggested the OP try another sofa retailer whos stock was a lot like DFS but cheaper

can anybody remember who it was? or can you recommend decent alternatives to DFS?

Cheers all

I've found DFS customer sevice to be fantastic , my missus damaged the dining room table leg with the vac , she was totally honest that she had caused the damage , DFS replaced it free of charge

re prices then yes they are overpriced, this is because they offer something like 3 or 4 years interest free and they up the price by about 30% to cover this

they are pretty much all the same, if John Lewis sell what you want then go to them, or Ikea.
DFS stands for Deferred Finance Schemes, so they are really in the business of lending money not furniture retail

Not really true.

DFS and SCS knock up their sofas in the far east for £70 a pop and then sell them on at massive margins, especially when interest is taken into account.

The likes of Sofa Workshop and mny of John Lewis suppliers hand make theirs in the UK. Hence they are more expensive, but they last longer. I'm having two sofas recovered this winter for the second time, since they are 20 years old and the frames are absolutely solid; you wn't get that from DFS or Ikea.
