OK, so for one reason or another I have taken an interest in photography, but I do not want to jump into it headfirst, have bought a competent compact and am currently looking around for some cheap starter equipment. I trust you guys over random internet sites/blogs.

At the moment I'm looking at getting a lightbox (is that what you call them? Or is it softbox?) as I will be doing product/macro shots for a project of mine. I've found a 30" one for around £5 and also a cheap tripod that I think will suit my needs, next on the list is lighting, I can't find any cheap starter lamps around, could I just buy a couple of bogo table lamps from Argos and put some fluorescent (as I understand these will give the best colour temp) bulbs in them for a similar effect?

Either way, is there any specific wattage I should be looking for with the lamps?

Thanks for any input guys, as I said I don't want to spend much, but I also don't want to start out with the wrong equipment. Any other pointers or equipment I've missed please feel free to tell me. As I said at the moment I'm mainly looking for equipment to do product shots (relatively small items) with.

P.S.
Did I use enough brackets?
