Software download for PS3?

Ah i see, maybe i should have got that version, once i have installed YDL, can i update it from there, or will i have to download a whole new version, sorry i am really new to Linux.
 
managed to get YDL downloaded, only thing is i am now trying to burn the image to a DVD, i have a DVD+R sitting in the drive and it says it is 4.7gb, but everytime i try to write the ISO to disc with ISO recorded, and it says under recorder section "E: Blank writeable Non usable"

I dont understand why it is doing this....

Anyone?
 
I'm kind of new to linux too, well I've tried various distro's but as far as I can tell it will update from the actual OS you wont need to download another version.

Try another DVD-R or other software, I've had that a couple of times in the past, try formating the dvd first?

Seems mirror.ac.uk's been taken offline :( But it did link me through to the Kent Uni mirror which worked (http://www.mirrorservice.org/sites/ftp.yellowdoglinux.com/pub/yellowdog/)

If it's not letting you burn the image to dvd then I'd try some different software... clonecd is good (will burn dvd's too despite the name :p) - There's a free 21 day trial on their web site http://www.slysoft.com/en/download.html

Managed to get it too burn, i used a program called IMG Burn, its very good. Every other program thought the DVD was a CD for some reason, but now got it all up and running :cool:

Is there a tweak to use a USB Memory stick as memory or virtual memory as I have only 520 or so mb for the swap and apparently the PS3 does not have a lot of memory.
 
When you have YDL on the PS3 and it boots into the PS3 as normal, how do you get from PS3 into Linux?

I know how to go from Linux to PS3 but how do i do it other way around?
 
I've got rid of YDL, too slow and could not get wireless to work so sticking with using the normal dashboard.

Is the image over 4.37GB? If so then it's too big for a standard DVD.
 
it takes far too long to boot, its far too slow running...anything, 3d acceleration is non-existant. viewing video's is a waste of time. you have to chage the default os every time you want to boot it.... it only has access to about half the system ram...... in short, is useless lol
