Hi All

In the snow yesterday, I had to walk for what felt like hundred of miles to collect my girlfriend from work as I couldn't get there by car and didn't want her walking by herself.

I've attempted to use google maps but it's not easy to mark out the exact route I took, is there anything that would make it simple to do this, ie allowing me to mark from street corner to corner and have it measure how far I walked?

Any help much appreciated.

Google Earth - draw using the path method.

A big flaw in google earth, is you are then unable to measure said path.
Simply export the path as a KML, and many websites offer KML path measurement. Just google.

I just did one for 9600 miles. It took me 5 hours to draw the path along every single road!!

Measure using the Ruler tool. Set mode to Path.

I've discovered that on google maps if you add a load of destinations near where you want, oce you've created the directions you can then drag the pointers to the exact places you want the route to go, thus allowing you to plot the exact route you want.

Turns out I walked just over 3 miles.
