Hi all in the past I set up a raid 0 on two drives and the performance difference wasn't great there old drives but thought I may get a little boost.

Any ways today I am messing with a software RAID striped array.

I have a boot drive and the two drives setup in a raid it shows them as a single striped drive (letter D) in the disk management window where I set up the striped array (win7 btw).

Now to the problem if I run ANY hd tune/tester etc it will list the two striped drives as two separate ones well ok but it only does benchmark that one drive.

I used the tools in win7 to see disk activity and yes only one disk was showing activity the other did nothing.

So why are they not running as raid when they show they are striped?.

Thanks

The benchmark programs will be going directly against the disks rather than the partition and hence bypassing the array. It's the same with drives which are partitioned, you can't benchmark each partition individually.

Hi there ok thanks for the reply.

Other than play test is there any other way to benchmark so I can see (STATS) results?.

Thanks

I will ask here saves starting a new thread.

I play ARMA2 and really want to test it out in that BUT its installed on me C drive.

Can I without reinstalling on the software RAID drive copy it over then use the

Pick Link source?

If so Do I just copy the whole ARMA2 directory?

Thanks again

Thats strange...I also have software raid and when I benchmark it it only seen as one drive. Does it depend on the software used?
