I’m experiencing problems with my Maxtor One Touch III external USB Drive. I use it to back up “My Documents” and other important stuff. When I click the icon on the desktop the hour glass appears but nothing happens. When I click it again it says that Maxtor is already open. The Maxtor screen does not appear and I’m unable to access the software. I can access the drive via windows explorer, but it will not auto backup or do incremental backups.
I uninstalled the software and reinstalled, that didn’t work.
I deleted the programs (again) from the add and remove programs but when I look in the Registry via “regedit” and search for Maxtor, or One Touch III, there are still innumerable references to the software.
Would it be useful to delete all references to the said software and then try installing the software again?
I’m running Windows XP. I remember that I had a similar problem some time ago on my old computer following Windows updates. I certainly don’t want to do a complete windows reinstall.
Any ideas?
