Hey guys,

I’ve recently upgraded to Vista Ultimate x64 and I’ve slowly been updating all my software.

But before I do, a mate of mine has just warned me that either Nero or PowerDVD (latest versions) can remove all your shortcuts from Vistas menu? He reckons it happened to him in the past.

Is there any truth in that, or is he talking rubbish? He’s usually pretty reliable ;)

I used to use both applications in XP without fault, so I’m not sure whether or not I want to upgrade now – I might try the old versions on Vista?

Any thoughts?

Cheers,

SW.

There may be some truth in it.

I have just built a new pc and have been testing it and installed power dvd. I also installed and ran ccleaner and all of my menu links (not folders) have gone.

This includes things like IE and windows mail etc.

I was thinking it was ccleaner and will test this at some point.

Thats it! All of your folder shortcuts remain, but things like Windows Mail, Media Player vanish

Hi,

I reformatted my PC and can confirm that PowerDVD8 has a problem under Vista.

PowerDVD8 was the first thing I installed and as soon as installation was complete, everything from my start menu that was not in a folder was no longer there.

Yep, everything is fine under XP.

The whole reason I wanted to try version 8 is because it says that version 7 has compatibility problems under Vista.
