Solar panel production figures

15.7kWh on a so-so day. We normally get a good week or two block in April but not this year, maybe May will have a better run?

Welshman had the better day comparing the graphs.

Btw the Octopus stats update at random times, for me usually the previous days data shows up in the afternoon, so I can't see any of the calculated costs until then, but it's a little random.

The only thing I can reason out so far is that if the data is updated in Octopus site, then the GE page shows me info.

Some clouds here, if not then maybe would have broken my 27 record, always more chances though :)
Thats a much cleaner graph than mine! Didn't actually realise how much it dropped off in the afternoon.

Not too bad but it clouded over during the best part of the day. As a result we managed 22.2kWh generation and 9.3kWh exported.

Also got hold of Octopus today and they've closed my three year old account so I can finally switch to them.

I'll take that and double it, on both counts :D

48.75kWh generated and circa 42kWh exported, new records on both counts.
very nice..... I would love a bigger system. my father in law has just had a nice one installed..... 50% larger than mine..... but a lot more expensive.
for £8350 installed i am happy with what I got (but could always use more ;) )

Export MPAN is now progressing with octopus. Initial submission about 25/03 so a month for the first stage which I believe the the DNO/validation part.

I’ve “a couple of days” for enrolment, and then 2-4 days for them to set me up on their systems. Fingers crossed I will be earning by early May, they have had 500kwh free so far this year!

My intention is to sit on Flux initially (if they are onboarding folk) given my large export until my BEV arrives in June when I will reassess. Long term it’s likely to be Go and 4p SEG if I can get self consumption high enough; I just can’t see any other tariff working out better.

System for today is showing 21kwh with 9kwh hidden in the DC battery. Guttered I bought 13kwh over the weekend… but needs must.

I switched to Flux a week before you (19 Mar 23) and I called Octopus support last week to see what was happening about going onto Flux Export tariff (Flux Import was instant - done the same day I applied). They said a month was the earliest they'd expect the export MPAN they'd applied for to come back, and I should wait at least another couple of weeks before starting to worry.

Like you, I was giving Octopus a free ride on excess solar kWh (about 1/3rd MW so far...), but I've tweaked the Tesla App's Time of Use tariff data to trim the Off-peak period down from 3 hours to just 30 mins (so it can only import max 2.5kWh to charge the Powerwall). Even after a poor day before, this is enough to keep me going from end off-peak until daylight charging brings the battery SoC up again, without importing from grid.
The trick is, to prevent any export when the sun is strong and the battery is less than 100%, you have to change the Powerwall setting from ToU back over to Self-Powered so that ALL the solar excess goes into the battery and none to export. Once it's at 100% of course, you then start to export all your solar excess. For me this is working out at 99% self-sufficient when we're getting a reasonable amount of sun, and the amount of export I'm giving away at the moment is a lot lower. Also I've not imported any peak period kWh at all so far.

I asked Octopus whether there will be any retrospective payment for my free export while I've been on FLUX - they were somewhat evasive, saying that it was a system issue that doesn't allow them retrospectively to calculate the ToU earnings, not having an export MPAN number to work with. However, I've seen posts here and elsewhere saying that Octopus have paid some people for their exported kWh since they first signed up to FLUX.

I'll keep you posted if I get any positive developments with Flux Export and the MPAN. If you do get onto Export soon can you please post an update here?

Hi, I’ve recently moved house. Already has Sola panels.they were installed back in 2014.

Previous vendors where with EDF and signed up with them as there isn’t much out there. Hopefully things will change soon.
Do I need to inform EDF that I have sola panels. I just don’t know where to start.

Any help would be appreciated.

My additional system was a self install, with electrician doing the AC work, costs certainly got a lot higher than I expected, hopefully with Flux I'll still turn in a decent ROI time, but not too fussed.

I'm pretty sure you'll find back dated Flux exports only apply to people that were already getting paid for exports by Octopus.

You need to get the FITS payments transferred to you, this should have been dealt with alongside the house purchase.

I would love a bigger system, but the roof doesnt allow it.... i am still looking at the rear of the property, but that will a future project if it goes ahead. i only paid a little over 5k for my system of 8 x 410watt panels and a growatt string inverter, no battery system. I put it in place, so that i can build on it in the future and in the meantime lower my bills and use green energy from my roof.....

Also i think currently prices are that high, i didnt think it was worth investing more money, just to line the pockets of companies who probably 18mths ago were charging 50% less.

I had two quotes for my system, both exactly the same panels, inverter, cabling roof rails etc etc etc....one was 5.2k the other was 8.5k go figure
