Solar panel production figures

Look into thin clients, or ex corporate mini PCs (dell optiplex micro, lenovo tiny, hp desktop mini), they all have more processing power than a PI, are cheaper to buy, and use barely any more energy.
i have a few them on watch on ebay...i also have a mini PC down in the man cave thats not being used currently, but need to check the power supply on it, obviously most of the energy will be covered by solar anyway...

What a really grim winters day, haven't even managed to charge the battery yet and it was on 96% at 5am, and dropped to 87% by 7am, currently crept up to 93%

it does look like a Pi is the best option, maybe i just bite the bullet and get one......but i cheap refurbed laptop has way more power, ram and ssd than an expensive Pi and comes with built in screen, keyboard, mouse etc etc

I mean i can get a refurb laptop for 70 bucks with 8gb ram, 125ssd, hdmi, usb ports, ethernet and wifi etc etc.....a pi is 100 bucks without all the extras needed to run it like screens, keyboard, mouse, cables etc etc

There’s some stock of 4gb pi 4 going up on Pihut at 6pm this eve if you want one… will be at msrp. will need to be quick though!

Really poor here
West facing array but the only time generation was above base load was about 9am
Since then the human it doesn't seem that bad light meters (eyes) have been shown up to be useless.

Unless we see some sun I may well fall below 10 kwh and end up with some peak grid usage
Deffo a go day not a flux day here

Ive already got it booked in for tmrw, you can have sunday ;)
We've got it tomorrow and Sunday if the weather forecast is to be believed.

Currently on 6.8kWh for the day :( Solar Forecast actually predicted 7kWh, so for one it may be correct. Definitely not going to be a negative day.

Sun is definitely booked for a rare appointment in Manchester tomorrow. If the beeb are to be believed, we will have sunshine from dawn to dusk.

Over 20kw here and have been clipping as turned the inverter to 1.5 max back into the grid…no point maxing it whilst I wait the g99.

Hot tub heated, immersion on, dishwasher been on and AC a little in the extension. 0 use from the grid. Loving my early days on solar. Tomorrow looks a good day in Shropshire but im out all day with the family. Going to change the water in the hot tub and heat it tmw.

There is a home assistance thread on here which I think @katie279 started, probably get better information in there. But a cheap laptop does on the face of it sound a good option, it even has its own UPS presuming the battery is any good.
Yeah, you can use anything at all really! Only considerations would be cost to buy and cost to run (don't know what the wattage of a laptop would be).

Raspberry pi is pretty much all the cost (just need a usb cable to power) - don't need screens, keyboards etc as you just remote in from any other PC or visit the web url it establishes with home assistant to do everything.

Thin clients or things like Odroid C4 are great also.

PM if any questions and happy to chat!
