Solar panels and battery - any real world recommendations?

Precisely my point, we are required to install smart meters which report export numbers to the supplier every 30 mins and yet we still have to send manual readings.

It’s just archaic… and must cost them a fortune as well as my time.
Yeah I think Octopus just integrated it better with their software and export is a bit of an afterthought for most other suppliers. For better rates and certainty I can live with sending a reading once every 3 months though.

Since the Eon tariffs are fixed for a year its not a simple switch like Octopus non fixed rates, they do have a good whatsapp messaging service though so it should be easy to switch. Personally I switched to Eon last month and they are pretty responsive on there. The apps are not as polished as Octopus versions but benefit for me is the tariffs are fixed for a year giving much greater certainty over future rates and of course for those of us without an EV they are more accommodating and the export rate is better.
i can answer this fully now as i've just done a few switches with eon next drive
- v2 fix finished on monday 07/04
- hopped on to v6, started tuesday 08/04
- v7 released today 10/04...just done the online switch to v7
- v7 fix to start tomorrow 11/04

was it painless, yes absolutely, literally a few clicks on the eon website and sorted.

Great. Thanks. I’ll probably switched to Go first, as I’m already with octopus and then see what my usage is like. If it’s significant a difference I’ll look into it.

that sounds pretty steep tp me. what size inverter with that energy cube.

12 panels are lets say £1200
Cube is 3k on powerland.....

so thats 4.2k..... whats the other 12k for??

@Mr.Cookie on the ovo energy site a guy posted this quote just 1 month ago..... but its 10k and not 16k for the same stuff from the same company

Hi everyone,

I recently received a quote from Project Solar for a solar panel installation, and I'd love to get some insights from those with experience in the industry or homeowners who have gone through a similar process. Here’s what’s included in the quote:

12 Evolution Maxima 490W panels
8.6kWh FOX Energy Cube battery
Full installation
Lifetime Solar Panel Warranty
Lifetime Inverter Warranty (Twin Tracker Inverter)
15-Year Battery Warranty
Total Cost: £10K

As I'm new to this and just started R&D around this and love to move towards green energy.
Does this seem like a reasonable price for the system and warranties provided? Are there any specific things I should watch out for? or good to proceed with this?

I’d really appreciate any advice or feedback! Thanks in advance. ☀️

Bloody hell, offer them £6k and 10,000 cookies?

Those 490w panels are 1908x1134, pretty big.
