EDIT: Unless you're talking about real solitaire, the one with pegs jumping each other trying to leave just one in the centre of the board, in which case, I don't know.
The Yank solitaire, that I grew up with playing with real cards, is called Patience.

As Mr.Clark says no, it isn't. Freecell for instance has almost every game winnable in the original Microsoft 32,000 except for one proper game and a couple of easter eggs.
I'd also call it patience if I was playing with real cards.
