Basically,

Bought a gtx 970 got pick your path game code.

Sold game code on ebay: buyer asked for code via ebay email. I sent it also stated in the ebay listing can send code via snail mail.

I just noticed the buyer reversed payment.

I just checked the code it was used.

Now what?

Sent an email to paypal and stated the above.

person bought code 6th dec reversed on 12th just noticed today 17th.
Is it advised I send a letter with the code inside now? do I need proof of postage etc?

How has reversed payment? Paypal Protection doesn't cover "virtual goods" so they wouldn't have given him the money back, maybe he's used a dodgy account or dodgy credit card for the payment?

Cannot sell digital items on eBay.

You are not covered by ebay/paypal protection unfortunately when you do sell these. So Paypal 100% side with the scammer, even when it is as clear as day light.

Well what about sending the code via mail also? which has already been used by said person?

You may be able to get Steam to move the game to you as you have evidence it's your game (if it is a Steam code) other than that you're probably going to be out a few quid.

The buyer isn't covered either in the same way the seller isn't when it comes to digital goods - it works both ways with this one.

If the buyer was claiming he hasn't received his item, then he would have had to file a dispute, which you have 14 days to respond to. There is no way for the buyer to immediately reverse charges on funds sent via PayPal without your input, it's just not possible. The only way I can think of is as i've said earlier, some form of fraudulent activity

supposedly the codes are uplay only - wonder how uplay is with this also

You're only covered via seller protection if

a) it was posted to their registered PayPal address and
b) you have proof of delivery i.e. it was signed for.

No signature, no cover. Of course since the buyer is aware you're onto him he's unlikely to sign for any postage item in the near future though you might get lucky and have the postie sign it for you if they're out.

Had a similar issue years back. I quickly sent the scammer a letter with the code in it. The idiot happy signed for it. Gave it to Paypal and I won the case

For a quick reversal they have done the most common scam. They have put a dispute into paypal claiming they didn't purchase the item.

This happened to me on 4.5mill of Fifa coins. Paypal reversed the payment which left me owing paypal £40odd.

I disputed the claim along with evidence of the guys feedback/ facebook fifa posts/ address/ wife's facebook profile talking about him spending money on fifa. They ignored this and still went along with the reversal.

I then sent all this in a complaint which must go over the top of the PayPal desk monkeys as the guy replied with a massive apology along with a £50 refund to my account.

A absolutely HATE the eBay / PayPal duo.

I use PayPal for sending cash abroad, and eBay for small items which I can't find anywhere else.

That's it.
