Sold PC, do I need to overwrite?

I have just sold my PC, and need to re-install Vista. I'm guessing this will wipe my Hard Drive, but do I need to get some software that will write 0's on my HD to make my data irrecoverable?

If so, are there any programs that you'd recommend?

If you have anything of concern, then you can wipe it to be sure.

Download Darik's Boot and Nuke http://www.dban.org/ boot from the CD and that will completely destroy any data.

boot a linux live cd and do

#dd if=/dev/urandom bs=1MB of=/dev/sda

where /dev/sda is your hard disk. Find it using an 'fdisk -l' as root.
