I have a monitor, keyboard and mouse but need a OS
I play bf4 and it would be nice if I could run it better than my ps4 did ;)
I also would like to play wow but surely anything can play that. Any help would be greatly received, it's been 10+ years since I last built a pc but surely not much has changed?

Welcome ;)

So, I'm slightly over budget here (slightly more as you'll have to pay for shipping). But you do get an Intel CPU for that money, and a 280X. WoW needs good single core performance, and that's what you get with Intel over AMD.

You can use a three-month free trial of Windows 8.1 for the time being. I did that when I was building my rig and it works a treat - no strings attached.

Yup, Intel CPUs are the ones to get for gaming - if you can fit one into your budget. AMD's alternatives have more cores, but games don't really utilise them and Intel has better performance per core.

I can do you an AMD spec if you want, for the sake of comparison?

A little cheaper. You'll also be able to overclock the CPU a bit with that cooler. If you won't be overclocking you could save £15 or so by getting a cheaper cooler. If you won't be overclocking and don't mind a bit of noise (by which I mean quite a lot of noise) you could save £30 by just using the stock cooler.
