Connecting 'daisy chained' fans to a psu is fine. However be careful running multiple fans from one channel of a fan controller, or worse, a motherboard header.
Soldering is a great idea until you want to quickly replace or remove a fan. It also makes it difficult to regulate the speed of the fans individually.
I have some of my fans hooked up to a terminal block (2 for a pound) that I have stuck behind a hard drive bay.
