Hi I am wondering if ssd drives are worth it at the moment with them being so expensive, I was thinking of looking at either 32gb or a 64 gb version

I am wondering if i use the ssd drive just for installing windows and general internet and installing my games on a normal HD drive will it affect performance as a ssd drive will be to small to install many games etc

Any guidance would be appreciated

Thanks

SSD's are faster and have near zero access times, so yes, you will see an improvement. Same way I get better performance on the Velociraptor. Things will be more responsive.

However, is it worth the price? Not yet. What OS are you using?

I am using windows 7 64 bit on a i7 920 oc to 3.5gb with 6 gb of ram and have windows on a 500gb hard drive and a second 1 tb drive

I've spent £1000's on PC upgrades since my first PC many many years ago and I can honestly say that installing a SSD has made a bigger improvement to overall system performance than any other upgrade I've ever done.

Is it worthwhile for just installing OS, and then maybe apps that I use a lot and require a lot of power, like Photoshop? And perhaps a few select games?

Depends on your definition of worthwhile. It will be faster. Almost instantaneous. You could argue though there would be 2 types of user of SSD at the moment, those with more than enough money to spare and those that benefit from the speed for for their job.

I upgraded to an X25-V and I've got to say it's most definately a great upgrade, but since I really only surf the net and watch a few movies using my PC I'm not benefitting from it much. Although bootup and shutdown times are quicker this never really bothered me in the past anyways.
