At home of course :p
Just wondering if the Samsung Solid State hard disks are viable for desktop PC's yet. For example I know that although normal hard disks are faster than these at sequential reading/writing, the solid state's are faster at random writing?

Therefore has anyone thought of buying two of the 16gb units and raiding them (to double their speeds) making em quicker than normal hard disks with blistering seek (and therefore xp boot speeds)?

As an aside, they use the 2.5" interface, so could you use a 2.5" to 3.5" ide adaptor (seen them for about £10) and then use an ide to SATA adaptor to connect them to a desktop PC? Asked as few motherboards these days have IDE raid any longer but nearly all have SATA Raid. Wondering if the two adaptors would work.

From what I have seen the price massively outwieghs the benfits still. You get marginal gains over a good standard hd. not saying I dont like them though. If the price drops and capacity rises it will rock for laptops. Fast seek and low power usage.

I was hoping that the operating system loading speed and general use would increase tenfold, but in the various benchmarks I've seen around the 'net, they're even slower at this task than normal desktop drives at the moment.
