Solskjær - tactically suspect?

Both Guardiola and Zidane had no experience what so ever. I would argue Solskjaer had more experience than both when taking over at a big club. The difference is the squads they inherited were vastly superior! People also seem to have short memories. Solskjaer schooled both Chelsea and Arsenal in the cup and Spurs in the league when he first took over! What is happening now is do with something different than tactics.

Whats happening now is a combination of a very thin squad coupled with important injuries and the players that remain not being on form. When we went on a run that was essentially title winning form last season we had almost a full squad, we still had Herrera and Lukaku (Lukaku wasn't vital but was important) and we had the new manager boost. Going from a very toxic dressing room to one with Ole must have been great and gave them a massive boost. That all came crashing down literally the second we appointed him on a permanent basis.

This season Ole has shown that he doesn't have the ability to actually create a style of play or coach attacking transitions into the team. What he did in the summer was great. We desperately needed another midfielder but the players he got rid of and the ones he brought in were great. The problem is that we have come into the season in a fragile state and been punished for it. With such a limited squad we cannot afford to have a mis-firing Rashford along with injuries to AWB, Pogba and Martial.

I don't think Ole is the right man to take United forward but currently the squad and injuries we have is doing him 0 favours. Come next summer we won't have Pogba so it will be interesting to see A) who is our manager and B) who we bring in because we need another 4 players to compete. 4 top class players. £250m worth at least.

apart from the keeper the rest are fodder no way good enough for utd regardless of manager, should have got rid of pogba for the start he's a proper arse that guy too many ego's in the squad.

I think it was telling that the club quickly handed him a contract as soon as his tremendous spell as caretaker manager started to hit rough water, whoever is in charge doesn't really have any idea what to do at the club, there's no long term plan just a need to have someone in the managers spot keeping things ticking over until such a time that the fans are demanding they be sacked. Rinse, repeat. If Solskjaer is fired this season then nothing has changed, you're no closer to being back at the top than when Moyes was fired.

BTW anyone remember at the time Moyes was appointed and how all the United fans were talking about how they aren't a club that keeps changing manager every season? what happened? what happened is it's a lot easier to stay loyal to your manager when he delivers decades of domination and success.

Hehe but unlike Ole, Wenger as much as he was a tactical dinosaur, was still winning trophies ;).
Not really, Wenger went a staggering nine years between trophies. Ole hasn't even had a full season in charge yet. Ole would probably get fired before the end of the 26-27 season if he hasn't won a trophy by then.

I look at the MU team/squad these days and there isn't much there to scare me; now it could be some of the younger players will develop into scary players but probably half the team I would say is not going to strike fear into my heart. The board have a bit of a difficult scenario on their hands because Ole has basically set his stall out to rebuild the team, he's shipped out Lukaku, Sanchez, Smalling, Valencia, Herrera etc and been playing younger players. If they get rid of him they could have just wasted a year or two and left whoever comes in with an inexperienced squad and depending on who it is, perhaps someone who would throw all that out the window and seek to buy in talent. I guess what I am saying is, if you give Ole that job, and give him the freedom to favour kids over elite players like Sanchez and Lukaku, then you have to see that through as a long term plan.
