My home setup is that of both gaming and visual entertainment, probably a lot like most on here and hence the latter originates from my Popcorn Hour A-110 box connected to my TV.
It has a 500GB hard drive in it and mostly the content I watch is downloaded and saved to it's internal hard drive as network connectivity speeds are generally pretty poor with it but I and the kids generally play stored content from my gaming rig.
Over the last few years, I've saved a lot of my favourite material to my desktop, which although primarily for gaming, has a 4 x 2TB RAID 10 setup to store the array of content.
Going forward, I want my gaming rig to be a little more easily upgradable to a hardware level and I'm considering changing the mobo/cpu/memory bundle for one of 8packs, but I have a problem with what to now do with that content.
I think really I need to sort a long term NAS option, but there doesn't seem to be a wonderfully cost effective way of doing this. I could probably push for a decent Synology or QNAP 4 bay NAS at a push, but the drive costs will be silly as a result and I obviously can't use what's in the desktop.
The PCH is also on it's way out I think with a little too much stuttering of content, but it's great in that it's remote control friendly and it's hooked up to my AV amp.
So can anyone offer some solution suggestions here? I'm going to try rebuilding and swapping the basic 500GB drive in the PCH as soon as possible as I have a spare there, but in terms of long term - all areas covered - solution, anyone have any ideas?
