solve my speedo problem

I went for a drive yesterday in the g/fs mk4 golf and she told me that the speedo was playing up so i kept an eye on it.

It seems that the speedo needle is blipping down and then back up while cruising. Speed and gear doesnt make any difference at all.

Any suggestions on what the problem may be?

Sounds like a faulty sensor, which must be knocking back and forward so thus producing the up and down affect. Cleaning and resiting the sensor should fix the problem

P.S. Don't have a clue where the sensor is on the Golf, sorry but I'm sure someone else might
