[Solved] Constant 7.1 PCM

Is there any way to fix audio configuration to permanently output PCM 7.1?

My receiver keeps dropping to stereo when no programs are outputting sound.

The problem is it takes half a second to change back to PCM 7.1 so the sounds are cut-off at the beginning.

Receiver: Pioneer SC-LX59

The problem turned out to be the receiver. I found a setting hidden away on it called fixed PCM. Once enabled there is no 1 second pause when playing back audio.

It's weird my onkyo amp sometimes cuts off or in when no sound detected. Quite annoying as it makes a god awful noise.

It's doesn't always do this though, only once every few days or so... and can't figure out why?

Where did you see this "fixed pcm" on the amp?

According to the manual of my receiver it was under a menu called Audio P.

what model and what noise does it make?
