Hey everyone, :)

Finally decided to upgrade from my GTX260 to something newer with support for DX11. Now it's been awhile since i looked into these things so im abit out of the loop.

My question is this: ATI 6870 or the GTX470? They are both sitting around the £200 mark which is roughly my budget. My rig specs are in my sig.

Thanks I wasnt aware there was a new release. I'll wait and see what happens.

Yeh this was the one i was looking at getting. hmmm It's also on special...
Well, you have a decision to make...either wait for the 6950/6970 release on Wednesday the 15th before deciding what card to get, or get that MSI GTX470 before then (as the "this week offer" will be changed to something else on Wednesday).

I think im going to have to toss a coin to decide after looking at the estimated prices being posted.

On another note, I read the GTX470 are quite power hungry, is my power supply going to be enough for it? especially if i decide to run my GTX260 as a dedicated physx card?

The new 6950s which are going to be faster than the 470 are going to be around £225 at launch. If you are prepared to wake up early and read some reviews then that is your best choice. You can then choose whatever you prefer, if you still want the 470 then you have until 9 am to buy it.

OK so i held out to this week to see what was going to happen with priceing! So my current decision is this either:

https://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-104-MS

or

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-027-HS&groupid=701&catid=56&subcat=1752

Now i do play a few physx enabled games, Such as Company of Heroes, Metro 2033 etc

I do however have a GTX260 sitting inside my rig currently, could i use this as a dedicated physx card with an ATI card as my main? And does this work well or are there issues?
