some advice please...

What model is your PSU? How Old?

That 780 is reported to pull 250w, so you should be fine. What is the rest of your spec?

im currently running:

motherboard: MSI Z77A GD65
CPU:i5 3570
GPU:GTX 660
PSU:Antec TruePower Classic 550w '80 Plus Gold' Power Supply. recently bought.
SSD: Samsung 840pro 250gb
HDD: 2x500gb

I suggest looking at the Linus tech tips or OC3D-TV videos about PSU's.
Facts:
Most PSU's are under-rated (EG says 550w on box, is actually a 625W) to account for capacitor ageing

The most important thing to look for is the Amps on the 12v Rail (one that powers GPU's)
since your PSU has Dual 12V rails @ 30A each you will be more than fine.

Lastly most of the "minimum required power" sections you will read are vastly Over-estimated to account for users with old PSU's and various types of PSU's, but actually most PC's don't use anywhere near that much.

The system in my sig runs @ 500w from the wall while gaming, around the 600w mark if I'm benchmarking.

So just to clarify .. Yes you will be fine :)
