Hey thanks for looking, just looking for some advice with ip addresses as networks etc is not my strongest subject.

well just wanting to know is there any real need/benefit of assiging a static ip address instaead of one that i obtain automatically.?

and yesterday i tryed to make my system a static ip address but then coudnt access the internet, i used the command prompt and typed ipconfig /all
to find my ipaddress, subnet mask and default gateway, and entered these numbers into the tcp/ip properties to use as a static address with no luck

how could i go about this.?

thanks

Kenny
