Some demos are not on Live?

Having a look on this list http://www.xbox.com/en-US/live/marketplace/demos.htm and noticed there are some demos listed there that i do not see on the market place when i connect to Live.

Have these demos been taken off (table tennis for example is not there) for a reason, or have i got an error not allowing me to see them?

You region is set to USA - some demo's are region specific

Same here...

I have the MS site set to UK, it still lists Table Tennis as an available download, however it does not show up via Live for me

I believe the Table Tennis demo was taken down. It was time locked to expire at the end of August I believe, but that was easily rounded.
