Hi Folks,

I have been asked to design some invites to a 60's/ 70's birthday party and have got stuck on the text. I have found a dont I like but I can't get it to look how I want it. As you can see from the picture below I am putting the text onto colours and ideally would like the text to be white with a black border. However the text I downloaded is only to border and so the colour shows through. How can I make it so that the inside is white? I have a similar font is just the letters with no border but I can't figure out how to put a black border on to the white text? Please can someone help asap as I need to get these down very soon and it's only this little problem that I can't resolve.

Here's the picture

Many thanks

Matt

Text mask, type out text, switch to quick mask, fill out the blanks, switch out of quick mask, then paint in the colour of your choice.

Voila..

I don't understand any of that :(

Can you explain it in a language that a real GIMP newbie will understand!

Many thanks

Matt

Select the text tool, then from the drop down box on the text menu select "Horizontal mask" or similar name. Then click where you want your text to be, then type it out.

Then close/confirm the text box, now press Q.

You should see your previously selected areas a pink/red colour. With the brush tool, fill in the areas you want filled. When done, press Q again.

Now use the paint bucket to fill the seleted areas with the colour you want.

I am assuming that horizontal mask is a font because that is the only drop down box I have! Also, do you mean pess ctrl + Q because pressing Q by itself does nothing.
