Firstly I'll say Hi, im new here but not to computers but im after some decent advice so I figured I would ask the people in the know

After a few years out (sold my desktop for a dell laptop) and got a 360 for gaming, The laptop is on its last legs and my 360 doesnt quite fufill the void left from PC gaming, so im looking to build or upgrade my old system thats knocking around my house.

The system i got is my sisters boyfreinds old dell xps 600, It hasnt been used for around 2-3 years and im not even sure if it still runs,

Now the question I got is it worth keeping the case, PSU, HDD and fans and just upgrading the core components or just building or buying a OC Titan box?

I got around 500-600 to spend, I already have a moniter, mouse and keyboard.

Any help would greatly be appreciated, Ill add ill be using it mainly for gaming BF3, Dayz ect

Thanks a lot

If you want it for games, i would say no, buy new, for 600 quid you can get a very nice gaming system.

The case should be ok. The new intel processors are so much faster and with ddr3, new 6GB/s hard drive speed

Look in the system bundles, all you would need is a nice new psu, hardrive and gpu. maybe get an ssd at some point. The psu may be okay, depends on its quality and if it was powerful enough.

Use the old box to stick some hard drives in, turn into a NAS or just keep it to all the other crap on, and keep your games machine clean.
