Hi there,

I have the below rig and I am thinking of getting a SSD as I am tired of hearing the HD i have crunching away all the time when I am trying to work.

I wanted to ask the following questions:

1. What settings in Bios are optimal (for any Sata drive), at the moment I think it's turned off in bios and the drives are shown as IDE devices on bootup. Will this be slower?

2. I am using Win 7 RC so is it just a case of a reinstall? but with the ACHI enabled in bios?

3. Which are the best SSD's at the moment <128gb

Thanks in advance!

1. Sata ACHI is best for ssd

2. Reinstall or use cloning software like acronis to copy your op system across.

3. Intel are without doubt the best followed by G Skill as they both excel in IOPS (don't go solely on sequential read/write rates). The bargain but great preformance crown go to the Crucial atm.
