Have you updated to the lated Bios? (If not latest Bios update should support Quad core/ kentfield and GO stepping)

It is not a memory related problem as your CPU will not extend over 2.7

Unfortunately the 650i chipsets don't clock Quads very well, and the Abit 650 i is probably the worst of all of them. If you can, return it and get a Gigabyte N650SLI-DS4 if you need SLi or a P35 board if you don't need SLi.

In regards to your mother board enquiry as a suggestion the asus maximus http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-248-AS

Does not support Sli though but the evidence shows it to be a cracker. Its future proof as well and will support the 45nm chips as well as your current GO.

Although the Asus P5K Premium - Black Pearl Ltd Edition is also a cracker of a board.

Unfortunately both boards do not support Sli.

Your Geil memory will be compatible with both the above mentioned boards

Very shortly the 700 series boards (updated version of the 680i motherboards) will be released. Supporting 45nm as well as Tri Sli and pci2.

If Sli is not a major issue one of the above Asus boards may serve you better.

Glad to hear the Bios update helped

when will the 700 series boards be out m8 might just be worth waiting a while and getting one of these!
Tri sli ? does this mean that we will use 3 cards instead of 2?
cheers

Have same problem here... Got exact same specs as u.. LOL!!!

Q6600 Go
Abit Fatal1Ty mobo
2 Gb Geil 800mhz ram (Not so rich unfortunatley :P )

Anyways the best I could oc to was 2.75 Ghz @ 1.32v which was sort of stable.. :S anything above even with 1.6v would become unstable pff... Now I installed the latest bios ( I think it's version 15? ) but havent yet tried Oc'ing will keep u posted on my results...

im a bit disapointed with this board tbo thats 2 fatality boards ive had, i also had the 939 one that was ***** too going to get new 680i soon as

Hmm Gl M8 than with 680i.. Till now eith the new bios I'm testing @ 2.8Ghz on prime... At least this time it booted properly lol , with the last bios it usally got stuck @ startup on those speeds..

K latest update on mine... I found the new bios to be of great help in overclocking... Up till now achieved 3.2Ghz but unstable.. :( the best stable Was 2.95Ghz on 1.35v all the others above became unstable though they still allowed me to boot and run superPI My best time till now was 16s :D tonight when im back home ill try overclocking again but on higher voltages :S

K hit the max I can get out of this Mobo.. 3Ghz on 1.4v... and upped the Nb voltage from 1.2 to 1.21 v.. and seems rock stable on occt , But when I was playing cod 4 for some reason the pc just restarted itself without any BSOD ecc... :S not sure about the cause therfore... But temps should not be a prob cos after runnig occt for an hour the highest the temps got were 55C any ideas on how to solve this prob cos I would gladly stay With this mobo @ 3Ghz than changinig it if it were stable.. maybe I should use some different CPU stressing progs? Ex Prime95 or orthos??
