Some odd X1800XT 512Mb issues with ATI tool

Hi all, just got this card, VERY FAST, however in latest ATI tool, it will not overclock past 621mhz core and 751mhz memory, this seems well slow

But the ATI drivers clock it to like 670, however makes no difference to fps, ATI tools 621mhz does.

Everyone else seems to be getting much higher, has ATI tool tightend up the timings ? temp under load is around 70-75 degrees c

hi there, been doing some digging apparently ATI tool doesnt get on with the 512mb x1800XT, using the latest cats 6.3 and getting 670mhz now,

Yeah it is. Glad u've made some progress.

A lot of people have been saying that overdrive loosens the timings rather than tray tools or ati tool tightening them.
The general results of people trying both seems to support that.
It looks like the gains in speed made by overdrive are countered by the supposed looser timings. Benchmarks being similar either way at max overclock.

I still prefer the control given by ati tool even though it's not entirely compatible with my 1800xl

Well you could always just mod the bios and get the PE version in that will take your clocks to 695core and 792mem and this works fine as long as you have 6mosfets on your card.

It worked ojk for me and there are a lot of other successes so far with slight if any temperature increases!
