some p0rn for you

hehe ace, I remember a while ago a guy locally had a vtec mini running semi slicks, so ridiculously quick it was!! regularly pasted arrogant impreza drivers. not a real fan of mini's but I respect these sort of conversions, and the fact the mini chassis can cope with quite a significant power increase.

I think the guys getting his under-steer mixed up with his Torque-steer Si :)

then again he might have an aggressive atb lsd fitted but I doubt it

Type R engines come with a Torsen LSD anyway :)

Size of the wheels would play a large factor in torque steer

tires actually play the smallest part in torque steer, suspension geometry and distribution of power totally outway there effects.
the only dimension of a tire that remotely influences torque steer is the tire width...
wider tires have wider contact patches, right? and therefore more latitude for the scrub radius to move around when you encounter an uneven surface. Low-profile tires with stiff sidewalls are less happy to conform to those surfaces, and so can actually move the patch around even more.
also having the wrong offset on your driven wheel can increase the scrub radius by moving the contact patch. even extreme alignment settings can increase the scrub radius by moving around the point where the steering axis intersects the ground.

what you have to think is a mini is more likely to have much narrower and thicker tires, even when you look at racing mini's there tire wall are quite large, so tires alone a mini will have less torque steer.

for sticking to the mark and retaining the a series engine and fitting a bespoke 16v head is certainly very cool. but a B18C type-R engine is simply a million times better an engine! I guess the fact the design is about 20year newer helps, oh and its honda :)

It is a world apart from a factory built A-series, its making 160hp @ 8000rpm. So it is putting out the same as a B16A however you retain the optimum suspension setup. After going out in a 2.5 V6 mini, hell it was fast...really fast, but it didn't feel very nimble. Factoring out reliability and cost issues, the KAD 16v is the ultimate engine for a mini.

james m8 i agree the kad 16v engine is an amazing lump after you think about its humble begins, when it started life as a weedy suffocated a-series engine. from a development and evolution point of view this engine is fantastic!

BUT the fact stands its a very expensive engine!
to rev to 8000rpm and produce power the head will have to flow really well, and to be pretty reliable at that rpm the bottom end will need a hell of a lot of work. so that alone will cost quite a bit!

you can grap a factory stock 159bhp b16a engine for peenuts which will rev happily over 7k to produce peak power and not require major subframe modifications. if you grab a type r engine like the b18c your looking at 197bhp which can take insane power increases and still run reliably for many many miles, not that you need that much power in a fwd mini of course :)

from a cost and performance point of view I dont feel the kad engine can be considered ultimate. if in your eyes you simply feel its a mark thing, ie a jap engine in a british car then fair enough.

I can see we have differing points of view here.... Id be bloody shocked if a granny pulled out on me on those dual carridgeways, dont recal seeing any on ramps ;)
I mean from the inside lane ;) I've had it happen to me, and it's pant wetting territory when you're doing 60 in a car with good brakes! Maybe I'm just used to Irish standards :)

You seem to think I'm Mr anti speed or something - I wasnt having a rant, I just made a comment, as a Mini driver, about how he was driving. I dont really care that much - he can total it if he wants - but I certainly wouldnt drive a Mini that quick in those circumstances, not worth your life.
