some programmes unable to connect????

Hi i am looking for some help/advice some of my progs will connect to the internet, eg winamp, spybot. whilst others wont eg FF, media player. This problem has only just started today as far as a icen tell i have recently installed a new KB the logitech G15 and mx laser mouse. will that have had any impact??
the pc is wired, im currently using my lappy wirefree.

First off, are you trying to connect to the same sites with the different programs? If not, try it, see if the site that won't work with WMP will work with WinAMP?

Have you got any firewalls running, and if so, have you tried disabling them?

What ISP are you with (AOL for example?)?

No im not trying same sites with diff progs. I was trying to get cd dtat whilst ripping when noticed it would not connect
WMp wont connect to the same site im listening to on winamp.
turned off firewall no difference FF times out before getting to a page.
and im with Btyahoo

also xfire wont connect yet steam just updated, wtf is going on??
