I've looked at the FAQ but some of my questions are not covered in this.

Firstly, is there any downfall in having a US Model PS3? Im going to Miami in 3 weeks and will likely pick one up, what sort of issues - if any shall i expect?

Also why it will be used for some gaming (Sigma + HS) i do want to for a bit of a media center aswell, does it have xvid support - if not is Linux easy enough to setup to get tham to stream instead?

Any game recommendations / Linux distro's to use etc.. welcome.

Spanks

You won't be able to play Region 2 (local) DVD's and some Blu-Rays.

The console lacks Xvid support, however if you install Linux on it you will be able to install VLC and play them.

Game recommendations... erm.. Heavenly Sword I guess. Motorstorm and Resistance aren't really worth it, rentals or borrows would be better. Warhawk is okay, but I personally think BF2: Modern Combat on the 360 is better and more social.

Not worried about Region 2 DVD's got my 360 for that, and BLuRay wont be an issue as ill nab on HDDVD or download and stream.

No game regions?

I doubt Sony UK will honour the warranty.
Besides, what about the voltage seeing as we are 240/50V an the USA is 110/120V.
Are US spec PS3's dual voltage?
